VDO will become Continental: What you can expect

The VDO product market is becoming Continental in the passenger car aftermarket. We’ll take a look at the new packages with you and check if there are any changes in them.

The most important things first: The VDO products that you know and have learned to appreciate will not be changing at all during the changeover. Of course, the original spare parts for electronics and mechatronics will retain their premium quality from the original equipment. However, passenger car spare parts will only be marketed under the Continental brand with immediate effect. Why? The answer is because this makes it even easier for you to recognize the products in which you can find the original quality and technological know-how from Continental. “We want our broad portfolio to be seen in this way,” explains Peter Wagner, who heads the Independent Aftermarket business unit at Continental. However, our strong and very successful ATE premium brake brand will of course be retained.

So what’s new?

The brand name change will also affect the workshop concepts as well as the packaging, catalog and website. You’ve probably already seen the Continental design in the catalog on the website – but the packaging of the following products will gradually be converted to the Continental design:

  • Engine actuators
  • Actuators for central locking
  • Windshield and headlight washer systems
  • Fuel systems
  • Sensors for instrumentation
  • Tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS)
  • Engine management sensors
  • Common rail diesel systems
  • Service devices (TPMS Pro and TPMS Go)

In addition to the new packaging, the workshop concepts previously managed under VDO will also be renamed: VDO Electronics Partners will become Continental Electronics Partners and VDO Diesel Repair Partners will become Continental Diesel Repair Partners.

This is what the new packaging looks like

The full-surface design makes the Continental packaging a real eye-catcher. You can also identify Continental original products even more easily, thanks to security labels with MAPP codes, tesa PrioSpot® and a seal of quality. Oh, and by the way: Simply scan the QR code on the product label to be taken to the online catalog of vehicle models that match that product.

You’ll find more information about the new branding here.
